The City Council approved the schematic designs for the landscaping and pedestrian trail area at the June 27, 2018 council meeting. This area will be mostly passive park space and include habitat restoration of wetlands, native grasslands and preservation and expansion of the native oak forest. Site amenities will include a network of trails, benches, picnic tables, wetland area overlooks, open meadow, outdoor exercise equipment, play equipment, and interpretive signs to create a serene gathering place at the heart of our community. Final design and construction is dependent on funding, but may begin as early as Spring 2020. The City of Elk Grove was recommended for award of a $3 million Land Water Conservation Fund Grant by California State Parks. This award is subject to National Park Service confirmation.
