Non-profit Organizations Serving Elk Grove Encouraged to apply for FY 2020-21 Funding

The online application period for three City grant programs supporting local non-profit organizations will open on Friday, January 17 for funding allocated in FY 2020-21. Guidelines, instructions, and applications are available at www.elkgrovecity.org/grants.

Community Service Grants and Community Development Block Grants

Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and Community Service Grants (CSG) offer funding for community service programs. The CDBG program funds public service activities that benefit low-income Elk Grove residents. They can also assist nonprofits with facility improvements. The program is supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Since 2003, the City has used CDBG funds to support senior and youth programs, upgrade nonprofit facilities, run housing programs, and complete accessibility improvements throughout the City, among other activities.

The CSG program is a local grant program that funds a variety of activities serving Elk Grove residents. Funding from this program has provided senior meals and food for the Food Bank, staffing support for senior and youth programs, and other activities. Nonprofits can apply for up to $100,000. CDBG and CSG grant applications will be due on February 21.

Event Sponsorship Grants

The City will also continue its Event Sponsorship Grant (ESG) Program. This program provides cash and in-kind services to events hosted in Elk Grove. Nonprofit organizations with events scheduled between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021 are encouraged to apply. ESG applications must be submitted by February 28.

Learn more. Attend a workshop.

A public meeting and technical assistance workshop will be held on Tuesday, February 4 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and again from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at City Hall (8400 Laguna Palms Way). Community members are encouraged to attend one of these workshops to provide input on what programs, services, and activities are most needed in Elk Grove. City staff will also provide technical assistance to prospective applicants including an overview of the eligibility requirements and application process.

Applications for all grant programs will be accepted exclusively through the City’s online application process. Amounts awarded for FY 2020-21 are subject to City Council approval through the annual budget process.
