th Workshop to Share Resources and Response Information with Residents

ELK GROVE, CA – Are you and your family prepared for the increased rainfall and frequency of storms predicted this winter? The City of Elk Grove and the Elk Grove Police Department will host a community workshop on Monday, January 18, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in Council Chambers (8400 Laguna Palms Way) to help educate and prepare residents.

El Niño is a band of unusually warm water in the Pacific Ocean with the potential for creating wet weather patterns. Increased rainfall, as a result of a series of storms, can create flash flooding situations and other related hazards.

State, local, and regional agencies, including the National Weather Service, will join Elk Grove Police and Public Works personnel to provide an overview of the winter outlook, discuss the resources in place to respond to weather related emergencies in our area, and share preparedness tips for the community.

This meeting is free to the public and residents are encouraged to attend. For more information on how to prepare for the storm season, please visit the City of Elk Grove’s flood preparedness web page at http://bit.ly/1S47sH3.
