Elk Grove, CA – Today, the City of Elk Grove, with the assistance of the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce, conducted its annual Business Walk event to connect with over 250 local businesses and check the pulse of the Elk Grove economy.

Now in its fifth year, the Business Walk allows the City to listen to its business community and collect personal feedback and basic demographic information from Elk Grove business owners. Information gathered from the Business Walk is used to prioritize City services and develop new economic development initiatives.

“The Business Walk is a critical part of our economic development strategy,” stated Economic Development Director Darrell Doan.  “Local business is the anchor of our economy, and this event allows us to gain invaluable information directly from business owners so we can gauge what services and programs are needed in the community to ensure their success,” Doan said.

Sixty City and Chamber participants fanned out Thursday morning to survey businesses in Elk Grove.  This year’s emphasis was on those businesses specializing in industrial and manufacturing work.

“Understanding the opportunities and challenges that exist for these types of businesses who are already rooted in Elk Grove will help us as we look to attract more industrial and manufacturing companies to our City in the Southeast Policy Area and elsewhere,” said Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis.
