Name that Park header
City Accepting Nominations through February 29

Elk Grove, CA – Submit a nomination to name a future park in Elk Grove. Theme ideas or names that honor individuals, club, or organizations are now being accepted by the City of Elk Grove through Monday, February 29.

Nominations will be considered to name a future 5 acre park site in the Madeira East subdivision of Laguna Ridge. Design work will begin in late 2016 with construction estimated for completion in late 2018.

The naming of a civic space is one of the most enduring honors our City can bestow. Names are intended to provide an easy and recognizable reference for the City’s residents and visitors.  In determining the name, the City Council will consider the City’s guidelines for naming City-owned facilities. The guidelines are as follows:

  • Names that represent broad community principles which enhance the values and heritage of Elk Grove and will be compatible with community interest.
  • Names with timeless qualities and that make a statement of significance to future generations.
  • Names that recognize geographic, topographic, or historical attributes of Elk Grove.
  • Names that honor persons who have served the nation, the State of California, and/or City of Elk Grove in an exceptional and distinguished manner and where such action is warranted by a contribution of service which is deemed to be of major significance.
    • Individuals must be deceased for a period of at least two years for naming consideration.

Submit your nomination online at elkgrovecity.org/parks or deliver a completed nomination packet before February 29 to:
