Fremont-Based Electronics Manufacturer looks to Build 230,000 SF Facility, Employ 2,500

Elk Grove, CA – Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis announced today an agreement between NRC Manufacturing, the City of Elk Grove, and The Kamilos Companies to bring the first major employer to Elk Grove’s Southeast Policy Area.

NRC Manufacturing, headquartered in Fremont, California, seeks to expand their operation to a second campus in Elk Grove. The company is a prototype manufacturer of electronic components used inside consumer and business telecommunications, defense, and consumer electronics devices.  Expanding to Elk Grove will enable the company to undertake full volume production of the products it currently prototypes.  NRC counts a number of large companies as its customers, including Apple Inc., also located in Elk Grove.

“This is a game changer for Elk Grove. This project confirms the Council’s commitment to growing our business and employment base and driving economic development forward,” said Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis. “The Southeast Policy Area will be a catalyst for significant job growth in Elk Grove and the region. We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Chea and his company to our community.”

At full build-out, NRC’s facility is expected to encompass 230,000 SF of new construction housing manufacturing, offices, and parking. The facility will eventually employ up to 2,500 manufacturing and management personnel. The first phase of the project, slated for completion by the end of 2017, is set to include 50,000 SF and approximately 620 new full-time employees. The Southeast Policy Area is a 1,200-acre master-planned area which includes over 400 acres of fully entitled corporate office and manufacturing land ready for development that sits adjacent to a planned mixed-use town center development.  SEPA is in close proximity to a planned 600,000 SF premium outlet mall known as the Outlet Collection at Elk Grove.

NRC Manufacturing CEO Ratha Chea lauded the City for its assistance. “When we first started discussing this project with the City a number of months ago, we knew immediately that Elk Grove was where we wanted to be.  We considered off-shoring this project, but we determined quickly that Elk Grove met all of our search criteria while keeping us in close proximity to our Silicon Valley headquarters. The City went out of its way to help us put this project together.”

“This is a major win for Elk Grove and the region,” said Barry Broome, President and CEO of the Greater Sacramento Area Economic Council, who is assisting the City with the project.  “Attracting a Bay Area manufacturer to Elk Grove sends a strong signal to the market that doing business in the Greater Sacramento region makes sense for Silicon Valley and allows organizations like NRC Manufacturing to achieve their full potential through lower costs, proximity to the Bay Area, and a young, highly educated workforce.”
