Press Release - City of Elk Grove Offices Scheduled to Reopen June 1

Posted: 05/26/2020

City of Elk Grove offices will reopen to the public on Monday, June 1. This change follows the State of California’s Resilience Roadmap and Sacramento County’s May 22 Public Health Order.

The City will implement prevention practices recommended by public health authorities to reopen safely and responsibly, including, but not limited to:

  • Physical distancing to the maximum extent possible, including the installation of protective barriers at front counters and social distancing floor markings
  • Requiring customers to use face coverings inside City buildings
  • Requiring employees to use face coverings when interacting with customers and when physical distancing is not possible between employees
  • Frequent handwashing and regular cleaning and disinfection of surfaces
  • Employee training and information on the elements of the COVID-19 reintegration plan
  • Posting of recommend behaviors for employees and visitors in prominent areas

Customers are still encouraged to conduct as much business as possible with the City online or by phone, but front counters and lobbies will be open during regular business hours. Staffing will be limited as teleworking continues, where possible.

“Keeping our community and our workforce safe remains our highest priority,” said Elk Grove City Manager Jason Behrmann. “We continue to stay in step with Sacramento County and the state in support of a safe and responsible reopening of our city and the services available at City Hall.”

The Elk Grove Animal Shelter will also reopen to the public next week on Tuesday, June 2. The Aquatic Center and Community Center at District56 will remain closed. State plans support the reopening for these facilities under Stage 3. Additionally, City Council, Committee, and Commission meetings are not included in this phase of the reopening and will continue to be conducted virtually.

City leadership will continue to monitor public health recommendations, evaluate procedures and make changes accordingly.
