Current and Upcoming Activities

Utility Relocations - January 2018 to March 2018

There are a number of utilities that are in conflict with the project and those utilities will be relocating their facilities under an encroachment permit from the City.  One of the larger utilities to be located is a Kinder Morgan petroleum line that will require lane closures on Bradshaw Road for the months of January-March 2018.  These lane closures will be limited to a 7 hour duration when traffic volumes are lower.

Tree Removals - January 2018 to February 2018

In preparation for the upcoming intersection construction and as documented in the Project's environmental document, it is necessary to remove trees in conflict with the project prior to the start of the nesting season for migratory birds.  The tree removal work is planned to start in mid-January 2018 and will be completed by mid-February 2018.

Project Open House - February 2018

An open house is being planned for February 2018 to provide an update on the project and solicit public input on certain landscaping elements.  The exact date and location of the Open House has yet to be set.  Please continue to check back to this website for updates.

Project Overview

Improvements to the intersection of Sheldon Road and Bradshaw Road are planned to 1) replace the existing bridge under the intersection which currently overtops in the 100 year flood event and 2) threshold values for increased traffic have been met, per the process outlined in the Rural Road Improvement Policy and Standards.

At the 3/9/2016 City Council meeting, the Council selected the roundabout as the preferred alternative to be advanced to final design.  Council also approved a full closure of the intersection during construction.  This closure will occur in the summer months when most schools are not in session.
