Bringing North America’s largest cycling event to Elk Grove requires coordination and cooperation from the entire community. Set-up and race day activities will impact some of the normal traffic routes to and from school, limit access to some bus stops, and delay trash collection service to some Elk Grove residents. On behalf of the City Council and staff, we apologize for these anticipated inconveniences.

The following information is provided to help you anticipate planned closures, detours, and service changes between May 16 and 17.

Extended Road Closures

Sections of Big Horn Blvd between Lotz Parkway and Elk Grove Blvd will be closed beginning on May 16 to construct the start finish line and festival areas. These closures will expand to include Civic Center Drive between Bruceville Road and Laguna Springs Drive on May 17.

School Detours

Race Sign

Race day is expected to impact the normal traffic patterns for some Elk Grove schools. The Elk Grove Police Department has prepared maps denoting the road closures and open roadways for morning (6 am to 1 pm) and afternoon (2 pm to 4 pm) drive times to assist parents in planning ahead.

Transit Service Interruptions

Access to bus stops and some areas along e-tran’s normal routes will be affected by the road closures. Riders should expect major route delays in the area.

Local transit service impacts on Wednesday, May 16 and Thursday, 17 are expected as follows:

Commuter Service on Routes 10 & 12:

  • The bus stop at Big Horn Blvd and Civic Center Drive will be closed May 16 and 17. Riders are advised to access service from the stop on Big Horn Blvd. at Elk Grove Blvd.

Local Service on Routes 110, 111, and 112:

  • Changes will vary for each local route service. Some detours will have multiple stops that will not be serviced.
