Nonprofit Grants General Information 

The City of Elk Grove has a long history of supporting local nonprofit organizations benefiting the residents of Elk Grove and offers several annual grant funding opportunities to support services being provided in the community.

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Community Service Grant (CSG) programs offer funding for a variety of public service activities, housing programs, and public facility improvements. While the Event Sponsorship Grant (ESG) program supports organizations hosting special events that benefits the Elk Grove community. Application Period

Beginning January 12, 2024, the City of Elk Grove will be accepting applications for the CDBG, CSG, and ESG programs for FY 2024-2025. Organizations proposing services or events that occur during the period from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, are encouraged to apply.  
 
CBDG and CSG applications are due on February 14, 2024 and ESG applications are due February 23, 2024.

Applications for all grant programs will be accepted exclusively through the City’s online grants management system (WebGrants). Please note that new WebGrants applicants must register for an account prior to being able to submit an application. Amounts awarded are subject to funding and City Council approval through the annual budget process.

City staff hosted an application technical assistance and public meeting webinar on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 from 12:30-2:30pm. The webinar included an overview of the eligibility requirements and application process for each program as well as offered opportunities for technical assistance to prospective applicants. Community Development Block Grant

The CDBG program funds public service activities, housing programs, and public facility improvements that benefit low-income Elk Grove residents. The program is supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Since 2003, the City has used CDBG funds to support senior and youth programs, upgrade nonprofit facilities, run housing programs, and complete accessibility improvements throughout the City, among other activities. Learn more about the CDBG program.

Community Service Grants

The CSG program is a local grant program that funds a variety of public service activities and art programs serving Elk Grove residents. Funding from this program has provided senior meals emergency food distribution, service for residents experiencing homelessness, staffing support for senior and youth programs, emergency funding for utility assistance, and other activities. Nonprofits can apply for up to $100,000 in CSG funds.

Event Sponsorship Grants

The ESG program offers support for Elk Grove-based nonprofit organizations that wish to host a special event with citywide significance that benefits the Elk Grove community. This program provides direct funding, City facility use, and in-kind services. Learn more about the Event Sponsorship Grant program. 

Special Funding Opportunities

Occasionally the City has additional funding resources available to support organizations, programs, and activities that benefit Elk Grove residents. These funding opportunities are typically limited one-time grants that address a specific need. Past examples of special funding opportunities include the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act of 2020 Nonprofit Grant and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) Nonprofit Grant programs which aided in our community’s response to the novel coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).
