The City of Elk Grove and the Committee for the Arts had the pleasure of providing two free performances of " A Musical History of the Blues " in 2013. The performances were held at two local high school's Performing Arts Centers, Sheldon and Cosumnes Oaks.

Elk Grove's own young musicians played in a nightclub style jam format. The Musical History of the Blues , directed by Gary Mendoza, rocked the house, bringing the audience back to the juke joints and cabarets reminiscent of blues history.
