Grading Permit Requirements

Per Elk Grove Municipal Code (EGMC) Section 16.44.050, "Permits required", a grading and erosion control permit shall be required to:

  • A) grade, fill, excavate, store, or dispose of three hundred fifty (350 yd3) cubic yards or more of soil or earthy material, or
  • B) clear and grub (1) acre or greater of land within the City.

A separate permit is required for work on each site unless sites are contiguous, have the same ownership, and are included in the approved plan. Any determination by the Director as to whether a permit is required may be appealed pursuant to the provisions of EGMC Section 16.44.300.
