Welcome to the City of Elk Grove's Online Diversity and Inclusion Library!
If you have traveled the roads, entered a restaurant or visited a school in Elk Grove you have seen the City's diversity first-hand. Elk Grove, and the Region as a whole, are among the country's most diverse areas. In fact, 2010 U.S. Census data confirms Elk Grove is among the top 25 most diverse places in the entire nation. Diversity is, indeed, a way of life for those of us who live, work and play in Elk Grove!
Books are a great way to learn about, and gain appreciation for, other cultures. In an effort to celebrate Elk Grove's diversity while providing a resource for building cultural competency, the City of Elk Grove and the Sacramento Library have teamed up to provide reading lists with titles designed to educate and enlighten readers of all ages. The Diversity and Inclusion Commission intends to expand on these lists with time. We hope to include titles and authors from as many cultures as we can. If you have suggestions, please email them to Kristyn Laurence.
