There are several options for clean up and hauling at residential properties in Elk Grove:

1. Self-haul your clean-up trash and recyclables in your own vehicle to a transfer station or landfill. Elk Grove residents get one free dump annually at the Republic Services, Transfer Station, 8642 Elder Creek Road. Just show your driver's license or a utility bill with your Elk Grove address at the facility.
2. Bulky Waste Pick-up. Residents can schedule up to 3 bulky waste pick-ups (of up to 5 cubic yards of waste) at no additional charge. Additional pick-up or waste piles exceeding 5 cubic yards will be subject to an additional fee. Call Republic Services at (916) 635-2500 to schedule your pickup. Learn more about when to set out your waste for collection and what types of waste can be accepted.
3. If you're doing a larger-scale clean up such as remodeling or renovating your home and need a dumpster or roll-off container, you can call one of the registered commercial haulers for pricing and to schedule delivery of a dumpster. Dumpsters must be placed in the driveway and not on the street. A dumpster, or roll-off container, can remain in the driveway for a maximum of 7 days without a building permit. When there is a building permit, the commercial hauler is required to service the container every 14 days, at a minimum.
4. Items suitable for donation can be picked up by a charitable organization as long as they do not charge you for the hauling.
5. A contractor, handyman or gardener/landscaper can haul away any trash that they generate while doing work on your residential property.
6. Many retail stores selling furnishings offer a program to haul away the old items that your new purchase is replacing (such as carpet, cabinets, mattresses, home furnishings, appliances, etc.) Ask about haul-away services when making your purchase.

Note: If you hire someone to do clean-up work at your residence, they can clean up your property but they cannot haul the trash or recyclables away. By contract, Republic Services has the exclusive right to haul materials from your home. This ensures your monthly garbage rates are as low as possible because it allows Republic Services to recover recyclable materials and offset the overall cost to provide trash service. When you use Republic Services or one of the authorized commercial haulers, you are helping to keep your monthly bill as low as possible.
