Elk Grove Animal Services offers high quality, low-cost spay and neuter surgeries to dogs and cats of Elk Grove residents. The program is available to all residents, with an additional 40% discount offered to seniors (65+) and income-restricted residents who participate in the Energy Assistance Program Rate (EAPR) by SMUD. A copy of a current utility bill with your name and address must be provided to receive the discount.
Who Can Participate?
- Pets and owners must reside in Elk Grove.
- Dogs and cats must be at least three months old and weigh at least three pounds.
- Pets six (6) years and older must provide a pre-surgical bloodwork report taken within 45 days of your scheduled appointment. This bloodwork must be obtained through your regular veterinarian and must be brought with you to your appointment for our veterinarian to review and determine your pet’s fitness for surgery.
Pricing
Below are the prices and fees for our services. Please note that additional services are only available with a surgical appointment. When you schedule an appointment, you will receive an estimate for the services. Please note that dog surgical prices are based on weight, please be sure to select your pet’s weight range from the list of services to obtain an accurate estimate. Additional fees may apply based on findings during surgery (i.e., cryptorchid, pregnant or in heat).
Post-operative pain medication and an e-collar are included for every pet in the cost of the surgery.

If your pet experiences any complications after their surgery please call (916) 687-3047 to schedule a free re-check appointment. There may be a small charge if your pet requires an additional prescription.
If your pet experiences an after-hours emergency (after 5p.m. or on the weekend), please contact your regular emergency veterinarian.
