The purpose of Flood Control Operations is to provide, maintain, and operate adequate and safe flood control facilities. It is also to assist in preparing for and responding to flood emergencies. Flood Control Operations contribute significantly to the safety and quality of life of the City's residents and businesses.

The FEMA floodplain map can be foundhere. If you need assistance interpreting these maps or need additional map information, please contact the Public Works Department at (916) 687-3005.

For any questions regarding FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) flood zone designation and requirements for flood maintenance, please call the Public Works at (916) 687-3005. Please have the address and/or the parcel number (APN), for the property in question and your phone number. The following information will be provided in response to your request:

  • FEMA Flood Zone Designation per FIRM (Flood Insurance Rate Map).
  • The Community Number.
  • The Panel Number.
  • The Panel Effective Date.
  • Any LOMR (Letter of Map Revision) issued for the property and its effective date.
