Early Morning Shooting Leads to Arrest

ELK GROVE, CA - On March 17, 2021,at about 12:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the 8700 block of Kelsey Drive. Upon arrival, officers found an adult victim who sustained injuries during the shooting. The victim was transported to a local area hospital. The shooter, 51-year-old, Viancia Roberson, was contacted on scene and detained.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned there was a verbal argument between the victim and Roberson. The argument escalated when Roberson drew a firearm and shot the victim several times. Roberson was ultimately arrested for PC 664/187, PC 245 (A)(2), and PC 273.5 (A). Roberson was later transported and booked into the main jail.
