On August 7, 2023, at approximately 8:09 p.m., officers responded to Elk Grove Boulevard, just east of Interstate 5, regarding a single-vehicle collision.
The driver of a silver Nissan Murano was driving northbound Interstate 5 and exited onto Elk Grove Boulevard. The vehicle continued eastbound in the number one lane when according to witnesses, the SUV accelerated and drifted into the center median for an unknown reason and struck a tree.
Officers and medical personnel arrived and rendered aid. The driver, a 34-year-old man, however, succumbed to his injuries on the scene.
The cause of the collision is under investigation; however, detectives believe alcohol was not a factor.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will make identification of the deceased.
