Fatal Collision On Frye Creek Drive

FATAL COLLISION ON FRYE CREEK DRIVE

ELK GROVE, CA - On April 4, 2022, at 2:48 p.m., officers responded to the area of Frye Creek Drive and Deepdale Way for a vehicle versus pedestrian collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed a 67-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle that veered off the road, while she was walking on the sidewalk next to Rose Park on Frye Creek Drive, just south of Deepdale Way.

After hitting the woman, the vehicle drove through the park and then drove off. The vehicle and its driver were quickly located and detained a short distance away by responding officers.

The driver, identified as 20-year-old Micah Banks, was arrested, and booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of Vehicular Manslaughter (Penal Code 192(c)(2)) and Hit and Run resulting in Death (Penal Code 20001 (a)).

The exact cause of the collision is under investigation.

The identification of the deceased will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.
