FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION
ELK GROVE, CA - On January 22, 2021 at 2:14 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle collision involving a motorcyclist near the intersection of Calvine Road and Sheldon North Drive.
Upon arrival, officers learned a Toyota Camry and a motorcyclist were eastbound, in separate lanes, on Calvine Road approaching Sheldon North Drive. The driver of the Camry made a right-hand turn in front of the motorcyclist, causing the two vehicles to collide. The motorcyclist was ejected from his motorcycle and sustained injuries. The 68-year-old motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital where, despite life-saving efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Camry, a 55-year-old male, was contacted on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Identification of the motorcyclist will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.
The Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau will be continuing their investigation into the collision. Anyone with information regarding this collision is asked to call the Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8148.
