School spirit will be on high profile later this week as two events showcase Elk Grove high schools in the community. First, the Elk Grove High School Homecoming Parade takes to the streets around Old Town on Friday, October 11. Then Saturday, the Franklin High School Invitational Band Review will bring some of Northern California’s most magnificent marching bands to the East Franklin area of the city for an annual competition.
EGHS Homecoming Parade Lane Closures for Friday, October 11:
Event Hours: 12:45 to 3:00 pm
- Valley Oak Drive at Elk Grove High School to Vista Grande Way
- Elk Grove-Florin Rd in both directions at Elk Grove High School to Elk Grove Blvd.
- Elk Grove Boulevard in both directions from Elk Grove Florin Road to Williamson Drive
- Melrose Avenue
- Southside Drive
Elk Grove Police Department will be on hand to assist with traffic controls and detours during the event. Motorists can expect lane closures along Elk Grove Boulevard and Elk Grove-Florin Road as the student body celebrates this time-honored tradition. For information, call (916) 686-7741. SUP-24-05479
Franklin High School Invitational Band Review Closures for Saturday, October 12:
Event Hours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Franklin High Road will be closed from the entrance to the library to Coop Drive.
- McLean Drive, Jefjen Way, and Clairina Way will be closed at their intersection with Franklin High Road
- Whitelock Parkway will remain open for motorists travelling east and westbound during the event.
