Traffic Alert: Harvest Water Construction on Franklin, Railroad Repair Work on Bond

Posted:08/15/2024

Two projects could generate significant traffic impacts for motorists in Elk Grove next week.

On the west side, the Sacramento Area Sewer District will close the northbound lanes of Franklin Boulevard between Sims Road and Laguna Boulevard to accommodate the Harvest Water pipeline construction beginning on Tuesday, August 20. All traffic will be diverted to the southbound lanes, generating one lane traffic in each direction. This work will continue through early 2025. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes whenever possible in this area.

For questions or comments about this project, contact the contact the Sacramento Area Sewer District’s dedicated hotline at (916) 876-3322 or the City’s Public Works Inspector, Jeff Ternes, at (916) 995-0333. View construction maps and schedules for this project.

From Saturday, August 24 to Monday, August 26, Union Pacific Railroad has scheduled extensive repair work to the railroad crossing at Bond Road that will require a full road closure at that location. Weekend motorists should plan for additional travel time to use detours onto Elk Grove Blvd or Sheldon Roads via Elk Grove Florin Road or Waterman Road during the closure.

For questions or concerns about this work, contact Ross Mendiola with Union Pacific Railroad at (402) 677-8259 or the City’s Public Works Inspector, Naweed Ataie, at (916) 627-3422.

This work is being coordinated by outside agencies in the public right-of-way under the issuance of an encroachment permit. The City will monitor the progress on these projects and provide additional public notifications, if needed.
