Online Application Period to Open for City Grant Programs

Posted:01/10/2023

The online application period for three City grant programs supporting local nonprofit organizations will open this Friday, January 13, for funding allocated in next fiscal year (FY 2023-24). Access the applications.

Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) and Community Service Grants (CSG) offer funding for community service programs. The CDBG program funds public service activities, housing programs, and public facility improvements that benefit low-income Elk Grove residents. The program is supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Since 2003, the City has used CDBG funds to support senior and youth programs, upgrade nonprofit facilities, run housing programs, and complete accessibility improvements throughout the City, among other activities.

The CSG program is a local grant program that funds a variety of activities serving Elk Grove residents. Funding from this program has provided senior meals and food for the Food Bank, staffing support for senior and youth programs, emergency funding for utility assistance, and other activities. Nonprofits can apply for up to $100,000 in CSG funds.

CDBG and CSG grant applications will be due on February 14.

Event Sponsorship Grants are available for organizations that intend to host a special event between July 1, 2023 and June 30, 2024 that benefits the Elk Grove community. This program provides direct funding, City facility use, and in-kind services. Event Sponsorship Grant applications must be submitted by February 24.

A technical assistance webinar will be held on Tuesday, January 17 from 12:30 – 2:30 pm. City staff will provide an overview of the eligibility requirements and application process and offer technical assistance to prospective applicants. Community members are encouraged to attend the webinar to provide input on what programs, services, and activities are most needed in Elk Grove. Register to attend.

Applications for all grant programs will be accepted exclusively through the City’s online application process. More information and the application can be found at elkgrovecity.org/grants. Amounts awarded for FY 2023-24 are subject to funding and City Council approval through the annual budget process.
