Maintained sidewalks provide safe and attractive travel paths for pedestrians, and others, to enjoy their neighborhoods, city-scape, and commercial areas. The City of Elk Grove has nearly 900 linear miles of sidewalk within the city limits. Maintaining sidewalk requires the efforts of residents and property owners to be diligent in correcting issues early on.
The Operations and Maintenance Division can assist by providing inspection services to evaluate sites and notify owners of concrete and sidewalk deficiencies. Per the City of Elk Grove's Municipal Code, section 12.05, and California Streets and Highway Code 5610 requires that the maintenance and repair of public sidewalks be the responsibility of the property owner(s).
The City of Elk Grove is here to assist residents in replacement of any sidewalk should it be required. For more information on sidewalk replacement, please contact our Operations and Maintenance Division.
